The Flexit program began in 2009 as a pilot project run by the Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation (Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, RJ) [1].

Enabling researcher moiblity [2] and finding innovative solutions to research knowledge dissemination outside of purely academic circles, the broad goals of the RJ Flexit program are to:

Build bridges between humanities / social science research and business sectors

Facilitate exchanges of knowledge between academia and industry, stimulating contacts so that private enterprises can leverage upon the competence of expert subject knowledge within humanities and social sciences, vice versa

Influence the meriting system so that academic institutions and private enterprises see value in their continued exchange in knowledge and experiences

To show alternative career opportunities for researchers in the humanities and social sciences

The Flexit appointments are a maximum of three years and consist of 75 percent research and 25 percent administrative service within the company / organization. In the first two years, the employment is linked to the company / organization and the third year, to an academic institution with continued company / organization contacts. RJ stands for salary costs and other costs related to research (75% for all three years), the company / organization accounts for salary for the remainder of the employment. The company / organization is an employer and designates a contact person for the researcher. The researcher is located at the company / organization as an in-house researcher but is expected to maintain and develop contacts with academia.

In 2015, I was recruited as Principal Investigator into the Flexit program with ABB Corporate Research Sweden (SECRC), and the School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg (HGU) as respective corporate and academic host institutions. I began work at SECRC as Research Scientist in Sep. 2015 and returned to HGU in Sep. 2017 to complete the proposed study.

My Flexit project study is entitled Using a combined model of language based, SLF, and UTAUT, in identifying factors affecting acceptance of new technology in the industry: A study of ABB User Experience. It has RJ Flexit project number RMP15-0954:1 | RMP15-0954:2.
